Racing for a Cure to Ovarian Cancer

Like so many devastating stories, sadly we lost a loved one to ovarian cancer too. To honor the life and contributions of Audrey Wirkkala, I raised funds for a cure by raising my heart rate. On July 31st, 2010 I completed my second Ironman to help in the fight. Ovarian cancer patients undergo multiple surgeries as well as cope with umpteen side effects from chemo and other therapies. Understandably, their physical and emotional pain is nothing short of horrific. I undertook the grueling 140.6-mile event (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run) in support of finding a cure and in homage to those affected by this deadly disease.
